YOUTH SUPPORT

YOUTH SUPPORT, a pivotal Spoke Service facilitated by Bent Arrow for Red Road, serves as a beacon of guidance and empowerment for youth who have registered at the Red Road Hub. Upon identification of the need, the Red Road Hub seamlessly transitions the youth to the Bent Arrow youth program, where a comprehensive array of support awaits.

Amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic, the landscape of youth programming has evolved, with a significant shift towards online platforms. However, amidst this digital transformation, efforts persist in fostering meaningful connections with youth collaborators, such as the Edmonton Youth Coordinated Response. Discussions are underway to establish youth drop-in spaces, potentially within The Orange Hub, offering a safe haven for youth seeking support and engagement.

An integral aspect of our collective journey towards reconciliation involves amplifying the voices and experiences of our youth. Plans are underway to integrate a robust youth component into transformative reconciliation gatherings, ensuring that their perspectives and aspirations are centered in our collective efforts.

Looking ahead, as we move closer to achieving herd immunity, a vibrant array of summer activities awaits our youth. From the traditional craftsmanship of building Dene Drums to the creative exploration of building electric guitars, opportunities abound for skill-building and self-expression. Elder sharings, vision board workshops, volunteering initiatives, field trips, gardening projects, and preparations for the upcoming autumn gathering further enrich the tapestry of experiences available to our youth.

Embedded within the fabric of YOUTH SUPPORT is the ongoing cultivation of Social Connections and Supports. While universally accessible, this domain also caters to targeted interventions, addressing the unique needs of individual youth. Though instances of intensive support are relatively rare, the commitment to fostering a nurturing environment where youth feel seen, heard, and supported remains unwavering.
